GSCL/ Ink Plus, Crown Mining Supplies and Elegance Jewellery and Pawn Shop Tournament– HS Masters turn back SuccessThe Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc (GSCL) Ink Plus, Crown Mining Supplies and Elegance Jewellery and Pawn Shop mega softball tournament entered the ‘business-end’ last Sunday with two quarter-finals that ended in dramatic fashion at the Everest Cricket Club.Fishermen Masters will not add to their collection after their campaign ended abruptly last SundayJust after some heavy showers and the grand launch of the second edition of the Prime Minister T20 Cup, the action got underway with HS Masters playing Success Masters and Mike’s Wellman facing Fisherman Masters.Success Masters batted first and managed 123-7 off their allocation of 20 overs with Mark Fung scoring an even half century while Suresh Ramdin claimed 3-20 and Hanoman Singh 2-35.HS Masters then wasted little time in the run chase to finish on 128-2 from 14.2 overs. Powerful right-handed batsman Samuel Kingston struck a rapid unbeaten 75 and got useful support from Jai Ram who made 30 not out. Their match-winning partnership has secured HS Masters a place in the semi-final.In the other match, after disagreeing with a decision from one of the Umpires, Fisherman Masters opted not to continue their game against Mike’s Wellman. The officials in consultation with the organizers then awarded the game to Mike’s Wellman.Earlier, Wellman Masters took first strike and posted a challenging 195-7 from their 20 overs with Latchman Kallicharran making 71 (7×4; 5×6) while Jagdish Persaud weighed in with an attacking 61 (2×4; 7×6). Sadik Yusuf managed 2-18.When the game ended abruptly, Fisherman Masters were 18-2 after 3.1 overs in the run chase.The competition continues on Sunday with Regal Masters taking on Albion Masters and R.R Masters coming up against Parika Defenders with the final two semi-final spots at stake.
