Washington D.C.-based group RDGLDGRN (pronounced Red Gold Green) have been making waves over the last couple of years since they self-released their hit “I Love Lamp” on YouTube back in 2013 as way to show friends and the local music scene what they had been up to. The video went viral and caught the attention of serious heavy-hitters such as Dave Grohl and Pharrell Williams, both of whom have since worked with the band. With a sound that clearly incorporates that unique D.C. G0-Go sound (think Chuck Brown, Backyard Band), along with hip-hop, punk rock, and indie, RDGLDGRN are garnering fans from across the musical spectrum with a sound that is all their own. The trio, made up of guitarist Marcus Parham (RED), bassist Andrei Busuioceanu (GOLD), and vocalist Pierre Desrosiers (GREEN), bring an energy to their music that is palpable.“Creating art that reflects the times is a definite must, but ‘Karnival’ is a song of celebrating the positives knowing there is needed change in the world but continuing to express ourselves even when times are hard,” explains Pierre Desrosiers aka GREEN. He continues by saying, “Growing up knowing about the Carnivals that take place in the Caribbean as the time when you get let out your pain, sins, frustrations, and all your inhibitions, I wanted to reflect that the best way I know how in a song: ‘Looking at the ways of the older folk, channeling my pain to a Karnival.’”Marcus Parham aka RED has this to say, “Karnival is an amazing new song that brings that RDGLDGRN energy our fans know and love but with new World Music vibes. It’s a single off our upcoming LP that we are crowdfunding for. Definitely head over to our crowdfunding page and check out all the dope bundles we got for sale. We’re dying to get out on the road w Dirty Heads & New Beat Fund and play ‘Karnival’ for everyone.”We’re excited to premiere the band’s fresh new track!
