The first time, it was Florida, citing health concerns.After a year away, Meyer reemerged at Ohio State, which was coming off of the tattoo scandal that led to the ouster of fellow title-winning coach Jim Tressel. After a trying season, which was preempted by the scandal involved longtime Meyer assistant Zach Smith, he stepped down at year’s end.Many people don’t believe Meyer is done though.Every year, there are big jobs that open. USC is one that many have pointed to that could woo a Meyer-level coach.Wright Thompson doesn’t even think it is much of a question that Urban Meyer will return to the sideline.In a recent interview with The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, Thompson says that he thinks Meyer will coach again “for sure.”Via 247Sports:At the end of the interview while discussing Meyer, Thompson is asked if he believes the former Buckeye head coach will be back in the future.“Oh yeah, for sure,” Thompson replied without missing a beat. “Oh, yeah. And by the way, I don’t think he’s lying. I think right now he absolutely believes he will not coach again. And I think that he loves to be a coach. To be great as a modern coach, he has to be really a different — he has to be somebody he doesn’t like. And so I think you’re just seeing something incredibly private play out in public.”Thompson previously profiled Meyer when he took over Ohio State in 2012 as part of ESPN: The Magazine‘s college football preview that year.
